Grandmas's Recipes - Performance Dinner

Grandma’s Recipes is an immersive and participatory performance-dinner that invites the audience into the life stories of the family of exile artists, Prokhor Gusev and Gulnara Iskakova. Hostesses welcome the audience as old family members to a home-cooked meal and brings you along a journey from home to a new home. Through the universal language of food, they generously share how displacement from their homeland has impacted them, just as one would share hardships with family at the kitchen table at home.
Both performers have indigenous origins: Gulnara is Tatar, and Prokhor is Komi. With this performance, the artists aim to go beyond the colonial politics of Russia. Grandma’s Recipes highlights the significance of cooking traditions and points to how deeply food plays a role in our cultural heritage. Through the reflections of the hostesses, the audience is invited to make their own reflections while participating in Prokhor´s and Gulnara´s nostalgia through different flavors, smells, and textures.
The ticket price includes food and beverages.
